Deep in everyone's heart lies a courtyard, either stored in childhood memories or in the heart that has been repeatedly depicted countless times. Such a courtyard is hidden among the mountains and waters, where morning and evening alternate.
In the early morning, awakened by the mountains, the sound of flowing water and the chirping of birds interwove, surpassing the most frequently played music in the playlist. As night fell and dusk fell, The distant mountains and the silhouettes of the trees blend together, simply outlining a scene of ink-wash painting.
Here, you are the temporary master, a reclusive villager in the mountains and fields. Cooking over a fire is also poetic and picturesque. In the morning, I rise with the smoke from cooking fires; at dusk, I paint the setting sun.
The Courtyard at the foot of the Wild Great Wall · Gubeikou, Beijing
Xiaozhu Great Wall is located in Simatai Village, Gubeikou Town, on the outskirts of Beijing. The Wild Great Wall lies on the ridge of the Yanshan Mountains and can be seen by looking up. The Chao River flows far away and joins the beautiful Miyun Reservoir in the south.
Covering an area of 2,000 square meters, it retains the layout of traditional Beijing courtyards, with an open living room. Behind it is the quadrangle Courtyard A, and the independent small courtyard is the Quadrangle Courtyard C.

Our pursuit of the countryside finally came to life when we encountered this 50-year-old earthen house in Jinyun Mountain... So there came the 'Jinyun Stay'.
The designer uses the most simple and understated building materials and takes advantage of the sloping terrain to maximize contact with nature. The entire restoration process preserved the original yellow earth walls, blue tiled roofs, old wood and old objects.
There are many connected terraces. Sitting in a chair and reading a book or daydreaming is very pleasant and continuous. The room is spacious. The duplex type is suitable for families to stay in and also for couples or best friends to take a vacation.

In the name of the gathering, we got 'GOD.', just across the road from Jinyun for a short stay. A private standalone house with a forested courtyard, rammed earth walls, breathing wooden beams, thin bamboo poles that have been adapted to the local climate, and a roof paved with old tiles. The entire house lies lazily among the undulating mountains.
On one side are undulating mountains, and on the other is a thick forest wrapped around. Accompanied by the setting sun and the afterglow of the sunset, the gathering begins: or take a seat casually and sing a chorus among friends. Or dress up carefully and wait with your friends for the start of the forest wine party. Or, while chatting and laughing with your loved ones, Xiaozhu's specially prepared whole roasted lamb is served on the table.
After dinner, light the fireplace and, in the warm glow of the fire, let your daily emotions flow freely. Gather around the fireplace for a night chat, sharing those moments that made you happy, joyful, sad, regretful, or even remordial.

While preserving the original architectural outline of the small courtyard, we made just the right adjustments to make it more like a livable rural courtyard to live in.
